Microsoft integrations for InTouch

Connect InTouch to the world of Microsoft 365

InTouch works with Microsoft 365 through two simple add-ins as well as broader connections to Exchange and Power Automate. Together, this enables you to automate everyday tasks such as saving documents and filing emails against cases.

Turn repeatable actions into quick, consistent and automated habits

Microsoft Word integration

Save or attach Word documents to the correct case and folder location from inside Word, so your file stays complete without extra admin.

  • The Word Add-in works with Microsoft 365 and Word 2016 or later, including Word on Windows, Mac, and the web.

Microsoft Outlook integration

File emails and attachments from Outlook to the correct case, so key decisions, instructions and evidence do not get lost in inboxes.

  • The Outlook Add-in works with Outlook 2016 or later on Windows/Mac and Outlook on the web when your mailbox is connected to Microsoft 365 or Exchange using a direct connection.

Microsoft Power Automate

Power Automate is Microsoft’s automation tool for building “if this happens, then do that” rules between apps and services, using triggers and actions.

  • Use the InTouch API and webhooks to connect matter events to Power Automate, or send updates back into InTouch.

By using HTTP webhooks as the bridge between systems, you ensure the right nudges are sent at the right time. This integration removes the silos between your legal and administrative tools, eliminating manual copying, "just checking in" emails, and the risk of human error.

Microsoft Exchange

If you use Microsoft Exchange, emails can be automatically filed to the correct case based on the reference in the email subject, reducing manual filing for busy teams.

  • The Outlook add-in needs a Microsoft 365, Exchange, or Outlook.com mailbox. POP3 and IMAP mailboxes are not supported.

If your Outlook setup does not meet the add-in requirements, an alternative plugin option is available via InTouch settings.

Connect your Microsoft world

With InTouch, Premium and Enterprise accounts can use the InTouch API and HTTP webhooks to connect matter events to Power Automate, or send updates back into InTouch.

  • Configure InTouch to send an incoming HTTP webhook the moment a matter status changes. Use that instant data pulse to notify a Teams channel, automatically provision a standardised folder structure in SharePoint, or create a new client project in Microsoft Planner.

  • Use Outlook, Teams, or SharePoint triggers to kick off a flow, then use an outgoing HTTP request to the InTouch API. This allows you to automatically log matter updates or create follow-up tasks in InTouch based on your daily activity in Office 365, keeping your audit trail perfect.

Why Microsoft matters for legal work

A familiar standard across law firms

Word and Outlook are the default productivity tools in most firms, so InTouch meets your firm in the apps they know and love, making onboarding easy.

Security and governance expectations

Many firms choose Microsoft because it meets and exceeds established security, access control and retention requirements, supporting good information management around client work.

Documents that travel well

Clients, lenders and other firms still expect Word documents and email correspondence. Keeping everything anchored to the case helps avoid version confusion.

IT‑friendly and widely supported

Microsoft 365 and Exchange are well understood by internal IT teams and managed service providers, making rollout and support simpler.
