New InTouch whitepaper on AI adoption in law firms

AI is now part of everyday legal work. The headlines are loud, the promises are big, and most firms are trying to work out the same thing: what genuinely helps on live matters, and how do we adopt it safely without creating new risk?

To help answer that, we hosted an InTouch Consultant & Influencer Roundtable with legal tech advisors, consultants, and change experts to discuss AI, case management systems, and real-world adoption in law firms.

We’ve now published a whitepaper that captures the key themes from that discussion, alongside anonymised patterns of how AI is being used on live matters within InTouch itself.

What the whitepaper covers

This is not a set of predictions or a tour of shiny features. It focuses on what firms are doing today and what specialists advising firms repeatedly see in practice.

Inside, we cover:

  • How firms are using AI day to day
Common live-matter use cases like drafting, summarising, “what’s next?”, and clearer explanations.

  • What consultants say to fix first
Processes, data, governance, training, and regular review before scaling anything.

  • Guardrails for safe use
Human oversight, high-quality inputs, and checking before anything is sent or saved.

  • Why case management context matters
Keeping AI inside the system where work happens, with permissions, auditability, and control.

Why now?

Over the last 12–18 months, the market conversation has shifted. AI is no longer just a future roadmap item. Firms are asking where it fits into their core systems and everyday workflows.

At the same time, many firms are stuck between two extremes:

  • broad awareness and pressure to “have AI”

  • limited clarity on what to deploy first, how to supervise it, and how to avoid unmanaged copy/paste and inconsistent outputs

This whitepaper is our contribution to that gap. It is designed to help firms make confident, informed decisions based on what is working today and what needs to be true for adoption to become consistent across a team.

If you are assessing AI for your firm, deciding what to roll out first, or trying to move from experimentation to consistent habits, the whitepaper will give you a clear, grounded view of where adoption is heading and what needs to be in place to do it well.
